Climate Change is here and there is nothing you can do about it.
One of the main ideas of Christianity is that this is all temporary. This too shall pass, and all that. We are here and, at some point, we won’t be here any more. Either we’ll die or the Lord shall return and take us from this place. Our lives are, by design, disposable. Like a plastic cup.
Our mortality is supposed to make us enjoy life more. If this is fleeting, we should enjoy it as much as we can, even if we are going to a better place when we die. That same mortality is also what is ruining the planet. We don’t care that the world is becoming a disgusting pile of waste, turned toxic and broken by our need for convenience. We’ve known about the side effects of fossil fuel usage for decades, yet we have done absolutely nothing to stem the damage. Yeah, sure, we recycle. We have a few energy efficient this and that here and there. But we do not have the will or the resolve to change our life style in such a way that would allow the planet to heal. And we won’t. We are no longer heading to a place where Climate Change might happen. Climate Change is happening right now. The Earth is different because of our activity. What we can only do now is try to figure out a way to struggle through our new world.
