The Brilliance of Avengers: EndGame

It all started with Iron Man. Was that a good movie? Sure. It was fine. Without Robert Downey Jr, it would have been a complete mess. But, surpassing all odds, Iron Man worked and worked well. People don’t remember that Iron Man came out the same summer as The Dark Knight. And, yeah, the Dark Knight is a perfect movie, but did it spawn a generation of movies that reinvented the genre? You might think I’m being hyperbolic, but I’m not. Avengers: Endgame is the comic book movie I’ve always wanted to see. The movie hits every note and nails every tone. Even with its flaws, this movie goes beyond what it was supposed to do. What was going to be a simple summer blockbuster that wrapped up this phase of the MCU, it is now set to be, along with Avengers: Infinity War, the new Lord of the Rings. These are movies you watch every year during Christmas when you are too full to move. And it is very possible that we never see a movie like this again. Be careful. Lots of Spoilers ahead.

Avengers: Endgame is the three hour long sequel to Avengers: Infinity War. For those that missed the last ten years, basically there are six stones that, when combined, can re-make the universe. A guy named Thanos got the stones in Infinity War and, with a snap of his fingers, killed half of all life in the universe.
